The Académie Notre Europe
What is the Academy?
Initiated by Enrico Letta, President of the Jacques Delors Institute, the Académie Notre Europe is a place for training, exchange and knowledge-sharing on European policies. It was created in 2017 within the Jacques Delors Institute.
For nearly 30 years, the Jacques Delors Institute has built strong expertise on European issues, combined with the development of a vast network of high-level experts, practitioners and decision-makers.
The Académie takes advantage of this expertise and this network to offer a range of activities aimed at bringing young people closer to the EU, helping them not only to better understand European challenges but also to foster their sense of belonging and European citizenship.

Our mission
The Académie fulfills the missions of lifelong information and training that are part of the DNA of the Institute bearing Jacques Delors’ name. True to the legacy and thought of Jacques Delors, the Académie seeks to promote through its activities the different dimensions of knowledge that, according to him, should underpin education and lifelong learning: learning to know, learning to do, learning to be and learning to live together.
The target audience for our activities is young people aged 16 to 35, because, as Jacques Delors asked in 1989: “How can we build Europe if young people do not see it as a collective project and a representation of their own future?”

Learning to know
Develop curiosity and understand the world with rigor and openness

Learning to do
Acquire skills to act and innovate in all areas of life

Learning to be
Build one’s personality and cultivate personal growth

Learning to live together
Our activities
The Académie’s flagship activity is its free annual training programme on European citizenship, which has welcomed over 500 young participants since 2017.
Each year, the Academy organizes two major events that bring together several hundred young people: the Jacques Delors Conference and the Jacques Delors Agora.
In addition, the Academy carries out numerous civic activities every year, some of which are recurring (e.g., participation in the Europe Day celebrations organized annually by the City of Paris, or educational workshops in schools and universities). Other activities or projects are occasional and/or linked to current events (e.g., the creation of a play — “En vert et avec tous” — in 2023, or a youth awareness and information campaign ahead of the June 2024 European elections).

Our network
The Académie Notre Europe is run by the Jacques Delors Institute in Paris, while also benefiting from the expertise and networks of the two other think tanks bearing Jacques Delors’ name: the Jacques Delors Centre in Berlin and Europe Jacques Delors in Brussels.
The Notre Europe Academy is part of a European network of three schools mobilized to promote European citizenship and civic engagement alongside the Scuola di Politiche in Rome and the Academia Europea Leadership in Barcelona. The three schools organize a major annual event for young people, the Agora Jacques Delors.
View our annual report
The Académie publishes an annual report of its activities. Each report highlights the patron of the graduating class from the annual training programme.
As the Académie is an initiative of the Jacques Delors Institute, you can also consult the Institute’s annual report to learn more about our activities and organisation.
